Primary Prevention link

Hey folks,

one of the people who put this resource together contacted me, suggesting I link it from the links page on backupproject.org. I've only given it a quick glance because I'm hella busy right now. Can anyone give it an in-depth read and let me know if you think it's appropriate? The quick glance looked good but...

It's an interesting read (and I've only read that one page, not the whole site), but I'm leery of some of their stats and the lack of referencing to back it up (in particular: These plans tackled sexual violence a priori, and since its adoption as the preferred approach sexual assaults have decreased by 60% in the United States).

Also, while I think that forensic nursing sounds like an interesting and good thing... I can't really see how this page specifically relates to the back it up project. It's not focussed enough to be used as a template for stuff the BUP is doing, that page in particular doesn't give people any info on how to access forensic nursing in their community (for example, it'd be great if some of their workshops about victimisation and abuse being bad things could become part of training for security teams at cons etc). I also think that the focus is large scale - changing the overall views of society. Which is a great thing, don't get me wrong - but the BUP is very small scale, is very much about helping this specific person in this specific moment and forensic nursing doesn't seem like a relevant tool for that.

Thinking about it, it seems like the BUP and related programs could be a good tool for forensic nursing. Nothing wrong with linking to the site that I can see, but if you're in contact with the people who have put the resource together, you might want to pass on that whacking in references for some of the statements their making would make the page seem a lot more credible.

Interesting, but not really related to BUP.
